The historical study of the visual arts is represented by evaluating, interpreting, and understanding the art products and the constant historical development in the fields of painting, sculpture, architecture, ceramics, miniature, printmaking etc.

The earliest Prehistoric art is hand print.

Art history doesn’t consist in simply listing all the art movements and placing them on a timeline. It is the study of objects of art considered within their time and discovering who created a particular artwork, what is the cause and thought behind it and for what reason.

One of the main parts of Art history is symbolism. It helps in analyzing works of art. Art historians identify the visual elements of artwork and interpret its meaning and what was represented at the time they were created. It is a way to learn about the civilizations and their culture of the past.

Visual art tells us a lot of stories of our past, it gives an account of past events. It allows us to look back and understand how our civilization evolved over the centuries. It is a way to know about our evolution and ourselves better. For example, Why do we have certain values? What shaped the way we think and our vision of the world?

Around 500 000 years ago, there was a time when humans haven’t developed any language or a certain way to communicate with each other because of their region-to-region differences, during this time the various art forms served as the main method or practice for communicating information between tribe to tribe and for themselves as well.

Art history is not about memorizing dates, artists’ names, art movements, etc. Instead, it drives you to analyze paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, etc. It is to learn and study how our Prehistoric artists recorded their daily experiences in mediums that have managed to make it through centuries of harsh exposure to changing environmental conditions, giving us detailed insights into what life was like in the earliest days of our species before the development of a written form of communication.
