Obstruction | Lino Cut | Relief Printing.
A Linocut, also known as Lino printing or linoleum art, is a printmaking technique, in relief printing a variant of woodcut.
The print has made up of a technique known as reduction (reductive printing method) in which multiple colours and tones can be applied on the linoleum surface and be printed on the paper multiple times. The artist then cleans the Lino plate and cuts away what will not be imprinted for the subsequently applied colour.
Apart from the technique, this print is to create something which is eye-catching and printed in a reverse printing method and the chromic cylinder works as a mirror which clears out the distortion of the printed image and gives the perfect view of it.
The thought behind the artwork revolves around a psychological concept of being afraid of change and transformation, an illusion in our mind of not allowing ourselves, and a hollow mindset that impedes or prevents passage or progress, creating an obstacle or blockage.
